Manifesto

Everything about our society is changing – rapidly and constantly.
How we communicate, get and share information, and engage each other — online and offline – is different than it was just a few short years ago.

Information moves faster, people are more closely connected, and the level of interest and commitment that people have when it comes to social issues and causes has never been greater. Our society has shifted and how we support causes, respond to disasters, and mobilize the public needs to shift as well.

The Internet has made us lazy. There are new, exciting tools. Collaboration happens quickly. Individuals can have impact. But, we are focusing on the shiny thing, not the impact.

Technology won’t solve these issues.
What will? How you use them. How you support people’s interest in acting. How you teach, engage, and mobilize is key.

This is not an awareness issue. Pink ribbons, wristbands, and hashtags are fleeting.

We need a shift. A shift in thinking. A shift in behavior. A shift in approach. A shift in how dollars are spent.

CauseShift stands for these beliefs:

All of us have a role to play in solving major issues – Charities, companies, and governmental bodies. Gone are the days when each group or each individual is on their own. We are all in this together. By fostering cooperation and collaboration, we can drive greater innovation

We need a reset – What we are doing isn’t working any more. We need to re-think our approaches. We need to re-design our processes. We need to re-consider how we structure and organize, not only our campaigns and movements, but the groups that lead them. We need to challenge everything we know, and think we know, and turn them on their sides.

Accountability helps foster effective implementation – With the dynamic state of media and technology, many organizations are overwhelmed. But change is needed. A shift is required. Knowing that new ideas can easily be misunderstood. We will hold our partners accountable and provide them with the guidance they will need to accomplish the shift that will be needed.
